Estimates Options

Getting Started with Estimates

When you navigate to the Estimates section, you'll see the following key components:

  1. Variable Selection: Choose which financial metric to analyze (Revenue, EPS, EBITDA, EBIT, or Net Income)
  2. Periodicity Selection: Toggle between Annual (fiscal year) and Quarterly data
  3. Period Range Selector: Select the time range for your analysis
  4. Analyst Ratings: View the consensus rating from analysts covering the company

Analyst Ratings

The Estimates section includes a gauge chart that visualizes the distribution of analyst recommendations for the selected company. This provides a quick overview of market sentiment:

The gauge displays the breakdown of analyst recommendations across five categories:

  • Strong Buy
  • Buy
  • Hold
  • Sell
  • Strong Sell

The needle position indicates the overall consensus rating, helping you understand how analysts collectively view the company's prospects.

Tips for Using Estimates Effectively

  1. Compare Trends: Look for patterns in how estimates change over time. Are analysts becoming more optimistic or pessimistic?

  2. Evaluate Surprise History: Companies that consistently beat estimates may be conservatively guiding analysts, while those that frequently miss estimates might be overpromising.

  3. Consider Estimate Ranges: Wide ranges between high and low estimates suggest greater uncertainty, while narrow ranges indicate stronger consensus.

  4. Track Analyst Coverage: A change in the number of analysts covering a company can signal changing market interest.

  5. Combine with Other Metrics: Use estimates alongside other Booga tools like Financials for a more complete analysis.

The Estimates section provides valuable forward-looking data to complement the historical analysis available in other parts of the Booga platform, helping you make more informed investment decisions.
